Malaysia, country with mixed cultures

After 3 amazing weeks in Myanmar, my next stop is Malaysia. First stop, Kuala Lumpur. I must confess when I got off the airport I felt I was in a very modern and way more rich country than Myanmar, yes a big shock. Here they don't smile so much and they don't look very friendly, but yes I am only few hours in this city, so I can not judge. You can immediately see the difference in the religion, this is a Muslim country. You can see a mixture of Indian, Chinese and Arabic everywhere. Huge buildings and skyscrapers everywhere. Looks like a very interesting combination. I just stayed 2 days in KL, as it is a big city I preferred to move soon. My one day was a walking tour through the city, of course making friends in the hostel during breakfast and just hanging with them the whole day. Architecture here has a mixture of modern, arabic, which makes the city very special. You are walking through the streets and just see in one corner a Chinese temple, and across the street an Hin...

Myanmar, the hidden gem

Next stop, Myanmar. First destination, Yangon. I think it was my 2nd time in a propeller plane, I thought this was the end, but we made it to my first stop in this unknown, for me, country. I think I always get very nervous when I go for the 1st time somewhere, this was not an exception. Everything looked so different than in Thailand, maybe I was even the only tourist, or maybe there were two more. I guess I had a cultural shock, as it was nothing like what I had visited before. I took a taxi to the hostel, and when I was trying to look for the hostel everyone was looking at me, like I was kind of an alien. I wonder what they think about someone that looks completely different than them? I think my firsts impressions started to change after I was a couple of hours there. People was smiling more to me, they kept looking but at least I was getting smiles from everyone.
